Academic Network for Environmental Humanities

The Academic Environmental Humanities Network is a research group established at the Faculty of Philosophy and Cognitive Science at the University of Białystok and the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” at the University of Warsaw, bringing together people interested in the broadly understood environmental humanities. We aim to create a space for discussions on critical studies of animals, plants, and artificial intelligence, their cognitive abilities, science and technology studies, broadly understood non-human ethics, critical posthumanism, debates on the Anthropocene and climate catastrophe, dialogue between the humanities and natural sciences, ecocriticism, and ecopoetics.

Our goal is to work together on emerging texts and projects (work in progress seminars), as well as to initiate new ones. We meet once a month in person in Warsaw (University of Warsaw Library) and in a hybrid format. The meetings usually take a workshop format: someone presents a text, which another person or people comment on during the meeting. We also invite guest speakers, organise debates, conferences, and walks.
